Ms.Hansell

Hi! My name is Kimberly Hansell and I am thrilled to begin another year with the Live Oak Community. I came to Live Oak after 4 years of teaching science to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, which I enjoyed tremendously but was thrilled when presented with the opportunity to teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Science at Live Oak Elementary School. I have quite a passion for science and look forward to working with elementary children whose natural curiosity and desire to learn about the world around them creates energy and excitement in the science classroom. I feel that young children are natural scientists. They love to observe, investigate, experiment, and wonder. I am looking forward to an academic year of fun-filled, knowledge packed experiments and investigations

I grew up in the mid West but transplanted myself to Northern California about 20 years ago. I finished my Bachelors degree and my Masters of Science degree at California State University, Hayward. While attaining my degrees I worked with foster children and children with disabilities. I then completed an extended internship at the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic at Valley Care Memorial Hospital. I realized after working both with children and adults that I most enjoyed working with children and decided to pursue a teaching career. I went to Chapman University and obtained a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Science.

When I am not working, I most enjoy my time with my family, my dog Riley, and my new kitten Simon. I also love to travel, read, ride my bike, hike, and eat chocolate.
